The company was founded in 1989 in Feltre, Belluno (Italy) by Bruno Bellò. It began its business activity with the production of refrigeration systems and heat pumps. It later focused on the development of innovative specialised systems based on rooftop systems, i.e. water circulation systems for residential buildings.

In 2016, thanks to the strategic alliance with the MIDEA Group, Clivet expanded its offering to include MIDEA's products, technologies and distribution structures and now offers the market a comprehensive, competitive portfolio of chillers, heat pumps, cooling systems and heat pumps.
